Our Newest Family Member!

Meet (No Name) He is a Terrier little bitty puppy. Only weighs 3lbs. In great health.
We rescued him from the shelter. He loves his big sister already so much. He is a good puppy. We have only had a couple of indoor potty accidents and they are always in the kitchen near the back door.

We are crate training him so my nights are long because he wakes up often and makes the funnest crying noises. Nothing like any other puppy we have had.  He was fixed and micro-chipped before we could bring him home.  He loves to sleep in Sephy's lap.
Here are a few more pics:

Maybe you can help us name him?

My heart is not proud, O LORD,
       my eyes are not haughty;
I do not concern myself with great matters
or things too wonderful for me.

  But I have stilled and quieted my soul;
like a weaned child with its mother,
like a weaned child is my soul within me.

O Israel, put your hope in the LORD
       both now and forevermore.

P&G Thank You Mom

I know that if I couldn't see my Mom very often it would make me really sad.  A lot of adults move away after they grow up and for reasons out of their control they are not able to see their Moms for years at a time.  I know if that was my Mom she would be heartbroken.  Proctor and Gamble is having a contest to help reunite Moms and their children.

"Procter & Gamble, continues to celebrate moms everywhere with "Thank You Mom Reunions", a nationwide contest to reunite Moms and their children for milestone family moments like graduations and birthdays which they otherwise might have missed.

Each month thru November, P&G is providing the opportunity for 15 lucky Moms to travel home to share a memory with family.

Since Mother's Day, participants have been submitting their stories online to be considered for a reunion with their Mom or Mother figure for the June contest.  Thirty finalists have been selected and voting begins NOW!

Deposit some tokens in the good karma piggy bank and vote for the person you think deserves to be reunited with their Mom for a special milestone event.  Click here to cast your voteYou can only vote once a day, so keep going back to vote for your favorite.  Voting ends for this period 11:59:59 ET June 30, 2010."

The contest details are:
  • Proctor & Gamble continues to celebrate moms everywhere with "Thank You Mom Reunions", a nationwide contest to reunite Moms and their children for milestone family moments like graduations and birthdays they otherwise might have missed.

I Will Call Upon The Lord!

Friday wasn't a good day for me.  I woke up having that gut feeling that nothing is going to go right and I laid in bed thinking to myself I can only make it as good as I will let it be. So I got up. Got ready for my day and called Texas. That was my first mistake.  Found out that I am not seeing my baby girl today so I cried and cried.  I miss my baby girl and I know she was having fun with her family but the selfish part of me comes in to play and I just want her home to be with me.  She is mine and I don't really like her being that far from me.
I call my friend Wendy and vent to her because she will listen to me and not get upset if I say something that I shouldn't say cause we all know we get upset and say crazy things.  But I asked her what else could go wrong today... That was my second mistake.  Shouldn't have asked that one.
I get a text from my lil' sister asking if I have talked to my Aunt.  I almost dropped the phone, because if my little sister is asking me if I have talked to me Aunt then something is wrong because that is just very abnormal.  I texted her back and said No why?  She called me.  I am in the middle of Dollar Tree I really knew something wasn't right.  I listened to her as she read me what my aunt sent to us via a instant message, see I hadn't been home for a couple of hours so I had no idea.  The worst goes through my mind when it comes to someone needing to tell me something is wrong.  It isn't on purpose but because I am so far away from everyone, they don't bother me when its little things like so and so had a doctors appointment and things like that but they do let me know when something needed for me to know about.  Anyways, my sister reads to me that my cousin Robin's husband  'Dre is in ICU because he had to have surgery today to remove a tumor on his left lung and when they got in there it was more than expected and had to remove part of his lung and they found more smaller tumors.  I am was in shock.  I didn't talk much about it to my sister because I was in the store so we said our goodbyes.  I said a prayer as I was walking through the store looking for Sephy some shorts for camp.

I feel bad because the missing of my daughter is minimal compared to what Robin is going through right now.  I want to be with her. I want to be there to comfort her.  I hate that we live far away from my family at times like this.  I know they know I want to be there and I just can't.  If I could I would.  Right now 'Dre needs prayers for strength, for healing.  My family needs prayers for strength to get through this with "Dre.  He has been battling cancer for over a year now.  I don't normally ask for prayer request, but right now we need it.

On that note I had this song in my head all day on Friday.  It is one of the first Christian songs I remember from when I started going to church camp with my Cousin Robin. If it wasn't for Robin I would not be a Christian. She is the one who got me going to church and to church camp back in 7th grade.  She is my big sister! I love her, 'Dre and Lexie like there is no tomorrow and always will.

It is sung as a round at first. The lyrics are:

I will call upon the Lord
Who is worthy to be praised
So shall I be saved from mine enemies

The Lord liveth, and blessed be my Rock
And may the God of my salvation be exalted
The Lord liveth, and blessed be my Rock
And may the God of my salvation be exalted

This video has two songs on it. I Will Call Upon the Lord and I Exhalt Thee.

Camp Sheets

Sephy will be going to GA Camp on July 5th.  This will be her first time going to camp.

I am going to do a tips for packing for camp post some time this next week, as I pack her for camp.

But, Today I took some plain black sheets and spruced the top sheet up a bit by adding some Pink Polka Dotted Ribbon along the top.

The colors didn't really show up to good in the pictures.  I think it is because my kitchen lighting is all I used.

I hope that she likes them.  I thought it would be fun to do something different with them.
I know my stitches aren't straight.  I am still learning how to sew with  a sewing machine.

I am going to attempt to add the letter P for her name to her washcloths and a bag.  Wish me Luck!!

Homeschool Village~ Manners

Photobucket

This weeks Question is: "Besides leading by example - what practical teaching methods/exercises are you using to teach etiquette and manners to your children?"

I have never really thought about what methods/exercises I use until tonight.

When Sephy was little we use to reward her for saying Thank You and Your Welcome.  Then when we where foster parents we taught the babies sign language.  They had to use them or they didn't receive what they wanted.  We taught more, thank you, please, yes, no, drink, and eat. Using the signs seemed to turn over to verbal when they started talking.

I have always been told that my child is very well behaved for her age.  I always say thank you and look back and wonder why, because at home she isn't always like that.

Sephy is about to be 11 and I have notice that at times she gets that little preteen attitude where she thinks she knows it before hand.  I have had to talk to her a few times about how people are to talk to other people and how feelings are easily hurt if you do not use the proper tones.

I have started making her repeat scriptures to me when she isn't acting properly.  This is something I just started doing because it seems that when I do this she realizes hey I am not being proper or Christian like right now.  This started because one day at church she was acting out and being rude towards me and towards some of the other adults around that I was trying to have a private conversation with.  I asked her to please go out into the hall and sit down and wait for me for a few minutes.  She started back talking me and being disruptive and very rude to me and the other two adults.  It embarrassed me and I didn't want to get on to her in front of the other adults.  One of the adults that she admires said to her Sephy in the bible it says to obey your mother and father, are you doing that right now? Sephy answered her back with no ma'am and turned and walked out of the room and sat down.  It surprised me that she did leave when she said that to her.  After that I started having her tell me what Ephesians 6:1 "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right." and Colossians 3:20 "Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord." I also make her now apologize for her actions.  After that night the next time she saw the person she had to apologize for her actions and tell her that she should have obeyed what my mom says.

I suppose that when we we come across something new that needs to be worked on I will have to come across it in a way she will understand. I hope I will  learn something from ya'll because teaching manners and etiquette is something that I  do not know how to teach except by what we are already doing.

My Featured Homeschool blog that I have enjoyed finding through HS Village this week is:

Mosaic of Grace

Mosaic of Grace.  This past month  she was on vacation and her pictures make you want to just hop into the car and start driving until you hit the beautiful beaches of Florida.

Half-Pint House

Megan is a wonderful lady that makes homemade goodies! I recently won a gift certificate to her site  from Muthering Heights! I got one of these cute business card holders and a zippy bag with my initial on it.  They are so very cute. I love them.

She is selling her goods to get to go the Relevant conference in October.  This is the same conference that I am going to be going to.  If you like these cuties here head on over to her site and check her out.  You will not be disappointed.

Grilled Chicken Tuesday
Tacos on Wednesday or we will Eat at church.

On my To Do List:
Rearrange Sephy’s room
Sweep the Floors

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon:
Rye Bread

In the craft basket:
I want to Monogram a Bag for Sephys camp
Practice taking indoor pictures.

Looking forward to this week:

Not much going on this week. So nothing to look forward to until my baby girl is home from Texas

Tips and Tricks:

To keep ants out of the house, find where the ants are entering the house and sprinkle a "barrier" of cinnamon or any type of ground pepper to block their way. The spices are too hot for the ants to cross. (Source)

My favorite blog post this week:

I really enjoyed Robyn’s Father’s Day Post!

Blog Hopping (a new discovered blog you would like to share with the readers):
I found a couple of Homeschool Blogs that I really like:

I will share the rest of them on Thursday with HS Village Link Up!

No words needed (favorite photo or picture, yours or others you want to share):

Sunset over the house.

Lesson learned the past few days:

I need to cast my cares to the Lord. He has a plan for me no matter what and it is in his timing it will happen not mine.

On my mind:

How this indoor photography is going to work.  I am excited and nervous because I get to take the pictures of the Doctor’s my husband works with for their website.

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses:

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 41:31NLT
