Who doesn't like a good Steak every once in a while.

This is Rib-eyes ala Cherees

First you get your ingredients:

1/4 cup Brown Sugar
1/4 cup Worcestershire Sauce (We use Heinz because it does not have HFCS)
1/8 cup Extra Light Olive Oil (you can omit this if you want to)
1 tsp Salt (I use Kosher)
1 tsp Fresh Ground Pepper
2 cloves of garlic crushed and chopped (you can use more or less depending on your taste)
2 tbsp Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning

Combine all ingredients in a bowl:

Add the liquid and mix well:

Prepare your steaks: I stab mine a few times on each side with a fork.
Then I put them in a Ziploc Bag or plastic bowl with a lid.

Marinate them for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Light your grill!  We set ours to Medium-High.

Put Steaks on the grill:

Grill To your liking:

Enjoy!

Ultimate Dilly Ranch Burgers

Our Homeschool Home

I am ready for Summer but who isn't right?? I know I am.

With the new way we eat, we grill out a lot.  This recipe contest is right up my alley.  It is hosted by Robin over at Our Homeschool Home.  If you would like to join in then just click the button at the top there or the link right back there.

My recipe is a burger recipe.  We tend to eat lots of them cause they are fast and cheap.

Ultimate Dilly Ranch Burgers

2lbs Fresh Ground Chuck the 80/20 one.
1 Pkg Hidden Valley Ranch Harvest Dill mix
Salt
Pepper
1/4 cup Quick Oats
1 Cup Shredded  Mozzarella Cheese

In a large bowl break up the hamburger meat so it is easy to mix the ingredients into it.
Add the Dill mix, the quick oats and then salt and pepper to taste and then the cheese.
Mix until it is all mixed together well.
Spread out a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet and form 1/4lb balls and form into a patty.
We use a burger press.
Place on the cookie sheet for easy storage.

Cook on grill to your liking.  We like ours medium well.

Serve on a any type of hamburger bun and your normal condiments.  I like either a good kaiser roll or the Sandwich thins for bread.

Best side to go with them is Homemade Sweet Potato Fries.  You can get that recipe here.  I found that if you use parchment paper under them they get crispier.  But normally they are not crispy but they are so so good.

Enjoy!

Raw (e) ~ Distractions

This weeks Raw(e) Theme is Distractions.

You are suppose to post a picture of what your distraction is.

So many things distract me but mostly its pain. I can't really take a picture of it because it is inside my body and that would be a bit gruesome.

My next distraction is this diet of mine that we recently started. It has taken away so many of the things that I love to eat and teaches you what is right for your blood type.  The diet is really a change of lifestyle in how you eat.  We started a little over a month ago and I have lost over 20lbs.  I feel a lot better except for my pains. I have become obsessed with it.  It is hard to go out to eat or eat with people. It is hard to say I can't eat this now, and they ask why and your like oh because its on my list of negatives.  I crave things and want to give in.  I am doing really well.  I am glad that I am losing weight but sometimes I wish I could just eat a Chick-Fil-A Sandwich and a big class of Diet Coke!

Here is my Raw(e) Picture:
Please excuse the mess of my table and my laundry basket. Persephone has been home all day with me and she makes messes.  =)

If you would like to join in please hop on over to Sailor & Company and join in the fun.
The rules are simple:
post a distraction photo
unedited (don't touch it or crop it or enhance it AT ALL)
don't post until you put your picture on your blog
link to your post not your url so I don't have to dig for it
only post ONE photo!
HAVE FUN!!!!

Turkey Tonight!!

Tonight we had Turkey!

It was so good.

Princess ate enough of it for 4 people.

She hardly eats what I cook. So I was so glad that she ate dinner tonight.

I made Sweet Potato Fries and Veggie Medley to go with it.

I didn't take pictures of it sorry.

Recipes:

Sweet Potato Fries recipe can be found on this post here

Turkey

3lb Turkey Breast
2tBsp Olive Oil
Mrs. Dash Seasoning

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Place breast on a roaster rack or in a pan.
Rub the olive oil over the breast and then coat in Mrs. Dash.
Bake in the oven for 2.5 hrs.
When the turkey starts to get brown cover in foil and continue to cook.
Take the Turkey out of the oven and let it rest for 5 to 10 mins before slicing.
Slice the turkey into about 1/2 inch slices and serve.

Dinner Tonight 2-23-10

Dinner tonight well was umm boring so no recipes to share.

We had some eye of round steak (which I did not like the toughness of this cut)
Fresh Steamed Broccoli
Fresh Steamed Carrots

We went grocery shopping tonight.  I got a Gluten Free cake mix.  Lots of Veggies, Different Cuts of Beef, a Turkey Breast.  I tried talking Dusty into Turkey breast cutlets, but he was unsure about them.
I think that he will go for it later on when things start to get boring.

I cheated at lunch because I was so upset because the salad I started with at Arby's was horrible and I made Dusty get our money back.  The Arby's we had in OKC, OK had awesome salads.  I ended up going to Quizino's they have great salads but have chicken. It was less than an ounce but after not having Chicken in over a week I could tell that my body didn't like it at all.  So I will not do that again.

Tomorrow night is Salmon...

Tonight's Dinner and Recipes

Tonight's Dinner!
Boy it was filling and was really good.

Oven Baked Rib-eye's

3 Rib-eyes Thin Sliced
about 1/8 cup of Worcestershire sauce (I use Lee and Perrin's)
Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning by Mccormick

I marinaded the steaks for about an hour in the sauce and the seasoning.
Pre-Heat oven to 425 degrees.
I then lined a glass pan with foil and placed the steaks on it and poured the sauce over them and covered with foil.
I placed them in the oven for 15mins and then turned them for another 15 mins.

Sweet Potato Fries

4 small or 3 medium Sweet Potatoes
Large Zip lock Bag
2tbsp Olive Oil
Salt
Pepper

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Cut the sweet potatoes into strips.
I did this by cutting them in half and then cutting the halves into wedges and then the wedges into stripes.
Put the Sweet potatoes into a gallon zip lock bag.
Add the olive oil and then salt and pepper to taste.
Shake the bag and make sure that the olive oil completely coats the potatoes.
Place on a cookie sheet so that they make one level.
Bake for 15 mins and then turn them over and bake them for another 15mins.

We also had Rice which is just your normal plan ol' Rice so if you want to make that then just follow the directions on the container you bought it in.

Eating right for you type??

So my hubby is swearing by Dr. Peter D'Adamo's books Eat Right For 4 Your Type.  So we tested our blood to see what blood type we are and decided to start this "NEW" way of eating.  I am Type B and he is Type O Both of us are positives.  So there is this huge list of foods we have to avoid.  The #1 and #2 foods we eat the most are the foods we can't have anymore.. UGH.. Chicken and Wheat... It is the Lectin in the Chicken that I can't eat and the Gluten in the Wheat.  So needless to say I am going on day 5 with no Bread and No Chicken and let me tell you it hasn't been easy.  I can't have corn either.. Just Rice and some other grains.. not to sure it is starting to all blur together already.  So mostly we eat Beef and Fish now.  Lots of Veggies.  It is keeping us from eating out unless we go to a sit down restaurant.  Which is hard to do around here because there is only 2 places we can eat and neither one of them is the best in the world.  I have lost like 5 lbs since Thursday.  I have noticed that I have a lot of energy that I hadn't had before, even with being sick with a viral cold.  I even noticed that my skin is loose, which drives me nuts, but I guess that is to happen if I am going to loose weight.

So you are wondering why are we all of a sudden changing our eating habits right??
Well if not that is okay, I am still going to tell you.  LOL.....

Most of my family knows that 9yrs ago Dusty had a vasectomy, well he had a test and it either healed or one of the tubes grew back or he had a 3rd tube either way.. he is spitting out those little tadpoles and we can try and have a baby.  So with his odd and my weight it for sure won't happen.  But if I loose weight and we increase our eating healthy lifestyle, plus some medical intervention we might possibly have another baby of our own.   So we are trying what we must to have our own child.

I was so excited for the news, now I just want to shred this weight so we can get pregnant.

So I think starting tonight I will post what we had for dinner.. So if your type B or type O it can help you if you decided to do the same.
