Five Question Friday on Sunday

Sorry That I am so late at everything right now.  I know i need to post dinner meals from the past few days.  Things have been kind of hectic around here.  Dusty's mom and grandmother are in town for a little bit while Dusty went on a business trip to the HIMSS Conference in Atlanta, GA.

Okay off to the 5 question Friday on Sunday!!! 5QF is brought to you by Mama M. If you would like to join in you can by either posting your answers in the comment sections of this blog or blogging it yourself and linking up.  Just follow the directions at the end of the blog to link up..

My Little Life

1. Do you sing karaoke? If so, what is your go to song?

I haven't sang karaoke in a long time but I always tend to do an oldies song "Shoop Shoop"

2. What is your favorite coffee drink?

Yuck.. I so don't do coffee, but you can give me a Chia Hai Java Monster any time.  It is Tea.

3. If you could choose your own name, what would it be?

I use to want to be called Heather when I was little, but I think I would keep my name now.  I like it and it is very original.

4. Were you ever bullied?

Yes, this happened to me a lot as a child.  I am still haunted by some of it today.  It was always about my weight or my name.  I used to be called Crisco, Cherries, Cheerios, or Cheese.

5. How often do you eat fast food?

We use to eat it on a daily basis, now it isn't so much especially since we started the Eat Right 4 your Type Diet.  Eating out is hard when you can only have certain things.

I hope that everyone has a great Sunday afternoon.

It is really pretty.  It is Sapphires and Ruby's in White Gold.

Here is close-up of it.  I don't quite know why the color changed and I couldn't get it any better.
If anyone out there knows how to photograph jewelery and can fill me in on the secret please let me know.

Thank you my sweet dear husband and my beautiful princess.  I really love it!!

Dinner Tonight 2-23-10

Dinner tonight well was umm boring so no recipes to share.

We had some eye of round steak (which I did not like the toughness of this cut)
Fresh Steamed Broccoli
Fresh Steamed Carrots

We went grocery shopping tonight.  I got a Gluten Free cake mix.  Lots of Veggies, Different Cuts of Beef, a Turkey Breast.  I tried talking Dusty into Turkey breast cutlets, but he was unsure about them.
I think that he will go for it later on when things start to get boring.

I cheated at lunch because I was so upset because the salad I started with at Arby's was horrible and I made Dusty get our money back.  The Arby's we had in OKC, OK had awesome salads.  I ended up going to Quizino's they have great salads but have chicken. It was less than an ounce but after not having Chicken in over a week I could tell that my body didn't like it at all.  So I will not do that again.

Tomorrow night is Salmon...

I got a gift...

Stay tuned more pictures to come.. my battery died on my camera..

So until then....

Tonight's Dinner and Recipes

Tonight's Dinner!
Boy it was filling and was really good.

Oven Baked Rib-eye's

3 Rib-eyes Thin Sliced
about 1/8 cup of Worcestershire sauce (I use Lee and Perrin's)
Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning by Mccormick

I marinaded the steaks for about an hour in the sauce and the seasoning.
Pre-Heat oven to 425 degrees.
I then lined a glass pan with foil and placed the steaks on it and poured the sauce over them and covered with foil.
I placed them in the oven for 15mins and then turned them for another 15 mins.

Sweet Potato Fries

4 small or 3 medium Sweet Potatoes
Large Zip lock Bag
2tbsp Olive Oil
Salt
Pepper

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Cut the sweet potatoes into strips.
I did this by cutting them in half and then cutting the halves into wedges and then the wedges into stripes.
Put the Sweet potatoes into a gallon zip lock bag.
Add the olive oil and then salt and pepper to taste.
Shake the bag and make sure that the olive oil completely coats the potatoes.
Place on a cookie sheet so that they make one level.
Bake for 15 mins and then turn them over and bake them for another 15mins.

We also had Rice which is just your normal plan ol' Rice so if you want to make that then just follow the directions on the container you bought it in.

Eating right for you type??

So my hubby is swearing by Dr. Peter D'Adamo's books Eat Right For 4 Your Type.  So we tested our blood to see what blood type we are and decided to start this "NEW" way of eating.  I am Type B and he is Type O Both of us are positives.  So there is this huge list of foods we have to avoid.  The #1 and #2 foods we eat the most are the foods we can't have anymore.. UGH.. Chicken and Wheat... It is the Lectin in the Chicken that I can't eat and the Gluten in the Wheat.  So needless to say I am going on day 5 with no Bread and No Chicken and let me tell you it hasn't been easy.  I can't have corn either.. Just Rice and some other grains.. not to sure it is starting to all blur together already.  So mostly we eat Beef and Fish now.  Lots of Veggies.  It is keeping us from eating out unless we go to a sit down restaurant.  Which is hard to do around here because there is only 2 places we can eat and neither one of them is the best in the world.  I have lost like 5 lbs since Thursday.  I have noticed that I have a lot of energy that I hadn't had before, even with being sick with a viral cold.  I even noticed that my skin is loose, which drives me nuts, but I guess that is to happen if I am going to loose weight.

So you are wondering why are we all of a sudden changing our eating habits right??
Well if not that is okay, I am still going to tell you.  LOL.....

Most of my family knows that 9yrs ago Dusty had a vasectomy, well he had a test and it either healed or one of the tubes grew back or he had a 3rd tube either way.. he is spitting out those little tadpoles and we can try and have a baby.  So with his odd and my weight it for sure won't happen.  But if I loose weight and we increase our eating healthy lifestyle, plus some medical intervention we might possibly have another baby of our own.   So we are trying what we must to have our own child.

I was so excited for the news, now I just want to shred this weight so we can get pregnant.

So I think starting tonight I will post what we had for dinner.. So if your type B or type O it can help you if you decided to do the same.

Five Question Friday #6

TGIF

I am so glad that its friday!  We have a few things planned for the weekend. We are taking Sephy to the movies and we are having new furniture delivered today too!! Sephy starts her new meds tomorrow morning too.  I put her back on her ADD/ADHD meds maybe it will help with her grades.  I sure hope so.
Here she is playing in the freak snow storm we all seem to have this year! She had so much fun.  I am glad she got to see some snow this year since in Mississippi it isn't suppose to snow.

So anyways on to the 5 Question Fridays brought to you by Mama M.  If you would like to join in just follow the instructions at the bottom of my post or hop on over to her blog and take a look.

My Little Life

1. Have you ever hit an animal with your vehicle?

Oh yes many times.  Living in the middle of no where for so long this just happens and every time it happens I am sad.  The worst of all that I have hit was a deer.  But in my defense I didn't really hit her, she hit me first.  She ran right into the car.  It was scary.  I to this day see its face screaming at me.  I was in tears and Sephy hurt her nose and we had our brand new exchange student with us and it was her first day in America and I go and hit a deer.  wow what excitement she had huh?

2. When you see a string on your clothes do you pull it off or cut if off?

Depends on where its at.  If it is along the bottom hem I cut it off but if it sticking out between the seems I just pull it off.

3. Did you have your own room or share a room when you were young?

I had my own room my whole life.  I think there was a brief moment where I think I might have shared my room with my sister when we had some people living with us.

4. Would you rather wear the same thing for the rest of your life or eat the same thing for the rest of your life?

I think I would rather wear the same thing for the rest of my life than eat the same thing for the rest of my life.  At least I could change up the outfit and maybe make it in to a dress or into different shirts.. there is only so much you can do with the same type of food.

5. What was your favorite TV show as a child?

Fraggle Rock was my all time favorite show!! I have the first season on DVD.  I have been thinking about getting them all on DVD.  I was stoked when I found them on Netflix Instant play and watched them all in one weekend.

I Hope yall Have A Great Weekend!!! !

School Project- Family Tree

My monkey had to do a family tree. It wasn't to hard to do.  It was a family project so we all had to work on it.  So I sat down with her yesterday and we got it done in about an hour.  They started a black history unit at school and this was the project she had to go along with it.  She really had a good time putting it together.

Here she is with holding the poster.  (please excuse the background, hubby shot this picture this morning before school and didn't think about the background and I was still in bed.)

We used this from www.wordle.net as a little bit of art work on it.
If you click on the picture it will take you to it so you can see it bigger.
For some reason it just doesn't look that great here.

Wordle: My family

At the top she wanted to put My Family in French which is Ma Famille, I should have used white chalk.

We used this picture for her picture:

This one of her daddy:

And this one of me.. (I covered my tat with my name, She picked out all the pictures to use.)
(I don't take pictures well and all the pictures I have that have me in them seem to have my hubby or monkey in them with me and we had to use one of just me.  This one she liked the best.)

I think that it was a lot of fun to put the tree together.  Monkey had a lot of fun doing it and She learned the names of some of her grandparents that are no longer with us.  She said momma I didn't realize that so many of our family is gone.  I told her that its okay they are all waiting on us.

RIP
Grandma Rose
Mawma Bristow

We all love and  miss you and can't wait to see you on the other side!

1. What is the one thing your love does for you that you can't live without?

Wow this is a tough question.  He does a lot of things for me.  I could live without them but it just wouldn't be the same.

I guess if I say how he makes tea.  He makes the best tea.  Or how he makes that perfect grilled cheese sandwich.

The little things in life that I enjoy that he does for me is what I couldn't live without.

2. When did you know your love was "the one"?

I knew he was the One when he kissed me for the very first time.  Although I didn't let him know.

3. Does your love have a special ringtone on your cell?

Nope he doesn't.  He hardly calls, I am normally the one that calls him.  He will instant message me from work.

4. What are you attracted to most in your special someone?

His smile and his eyes.  They will melt your heart. I have always loved that smile of his.

5. Did you know when/where he/she was going to pop the big question?

Nope I sure didn't.  He just asked one day out of the blue.

Five Question Friday #4

Whoo Hooo I am getting it done on Friday! Wow so much has happened this week.  I think tomorrow I will blog about everything in more detail and update about my Princess with what happened at school.

So on to FIVE QUESTION FRIDAY!!!! brought to you by Mama M. So hop on over to her blog and check it out if you want to join in!

My Little Life

1. What are you most afraid of?

This is one of the one questions my daughter ask me a lot.  I always answer spiders and lizards and all those things with scales and lots of legs. But honestly those things don't bother me at all.

I am not afraid to die.  I know when I die I will get to meet my heavenly father and I am excited about that.  I will get to be with my loved ones that have gone before me.  I will get to see my Grandma Rose and the garden I asked her to build the day she died.  I will get to see my Grandma Bristow again.  I miss those two dear women so much every day.  I honestly long for the day that I will die and be reunited with them and my God.

I am afraid that my husband when he dies will not be in heaven with us.  That has always been my fear.  I long for that day that my husband will say that he believes in the God that I do and that he wants to go to heaven to live eternity with us.  I think deep down that he does believe it but he just doesn't want to admit it. I want him in heaven with me.  It isn't selfish to want that.  I think that as his wife it is my duty to help him see the good in the almighty father that i believe in.  It is a long road but I am surly going to see that we get to the end of it together.
2. Do you use a flat iron or curling iron?

I use both.  I use a curling iron when i want curls and a flat iron when i want to go super straight.  I have naturally wavy hair,  stick some moose in it and off I go to get the waves and the lift I want and I am good.  But when I am going out I either want the big curls or it super straight.
3. Hands-free or phone to the ear?

I am a phone to the ear gal.  I have a blue tooth thingy but I can never figure out how to use it.  So if I am on the phone I am on it with my and at my ear chatting it up.  I love to talk on the phone but sometimes I rather just text or instant message.
4. Do you have a matching bedroom set?

We do have a matching bedroom set.  It is Black with hot pink stripes.  The sheets are white and black and hot pink stripes.  I like it but I think we are about to go red and black in the bedroom or chocolate and turquoise.

5. Do you believe in the paranormal?

Yes I do.  When Princess was about a year old and her cousin Cairssy (she was almost 3 at the time) was at our apartment and the girls where playing in her bedroom.  Our apartments where across the street from the cemetery. Cairssy came running out of the bedroom yelling I don't want to play with the boy in the closet.  We went in there and told her and showed her there was no boy in the closet.  Princess wouldn't go in her room for a long time after that day.  We never really thought anything about it until later when we started reading and watching shows about the paranormal.

I hope that everyone has an awesome weekend!!!

My Princess is driving me crazy...

I pick up my princess from school today. Ask her the same thing I always do when she gets in the car.

Mom: How was your day?

Princess:  Good.

Mom:  Thats good.  Do you have any homework?

Princess: Yes

This is how almost everyday plays out. So we get home and Tuesday is folder day where they send home all her work and a weekly citizenship grades.  Except today we get her progress report.  I about flipped.  She has C, D and a F.  I was lived mind you.  I expect her to have A's and B's.  There is no reason she shouldn't.  Half the stuff she is doing we have already covered when we where homeschooling.  There are a few things that are new and if she doesn't understand them then we work on them. So I thought.  Well she isn't turning in her homework or she isn't doing her class work.  I was mad.  So I get her notebook out and we go through it.  There are papers in there in different spot that she hasn't done.  So I asked her about it.  She knows she is in trouble because 1st now she is caught. I see that they pages aren't done.  I told her flat out.  You wanted to go to school.  This is something you have chosen to do.  If you are going to go to school you are going to do it right.  If she was home she doesn't get grades but all her work has to be done before she is able to play or watch tv or get on the computer.  So it should be the same at school in my opinion.  Her school is a magnet school.  So much "fun" things to do.  I choose to put her in that school so she could have all the options for learning through the arts.  I am thinking maybe I should have just stuck with homeschooling.  At least I am not having to worry about her failing her classes.   Why is she acting this way I ask myself.  Why isn't she doing her classwork.  What is causing her not to do her homework?  It isn't distractions.  The TV isn't on when she is doing her homework?  Is is because she is just being defiant and not caring at all if she does well.  I so Wish I knew.  I wish that I could sit in the corner and her not know I am there at school to see what exactly what she is doing.  I requested a conference and hubby wants to go with me.  He is upset too.  She shouldn't be failing her classes.  I don't want to put her back on ADD meds.  But I have this feeling that is where it is going to end up because she has to succeed even if she is 10.  I want her to go to a good college and if she doesn't learn good study habits now, they wont be good in high school.
Am I asking to much of her??
